Watch: In a sequence rarely seen in the game, Alana King survived a hit wicket due to a shoulder-high no-ball, managing to stil hitl a six on one leg, during the third Australia-South Africa Women’s ODI in Sydney.

The last ball of the 48th over, bowled by Masabata Klaas, turned out to be an eventful mess: in the attempt to bowl a slower one, Klaas ended up tossing the ball at shoulder height to King. The Australia No.9 crouched and swivelled, pulling the ball as she fell to one knee and slamming it to the deep square leg fence. As she turned and fell back, the swing of the bat smashed her own stumps.

Before she completed her stroke, the leg-umpire had signalled a no-ball: King, still on her ground, turned back in bewilderment, probably in disbelief over what had transpired.

With the no-ball, Australia fetched seven runs off a ball that also included stumps being broken down by the bat.

King had a much bigger role to play in the second half. Her figures of 4-26 in five overs paved the way for a thumping 110-run win for the hosts via the DLS method. It included a triple-wicket maiden, finishing with her best figures in Women’s ODIs.
