R Ashwin taunted former cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, known for his scathing attacks on the off-spinner, on social media, using a “Call me please” meme of the latter while replying to a parody account.

L Sivaramakrishnan had launched a public tirade against R Ashwin during the 2023 World Cup, claiming that the latter picked up wickets on doctored pitches. He also accused Ashwin of disrespecting him before his 100th Test earlier this month.

Replying under a tweet that paid tribute to Ashwin and his career, Sivaramakrishnan said the player had cut off his call when he tried to congratulate him: “Tried calling him a few times to wish him for his 100th Test. Just cut off my call. Sent him a message, no reply. Thats the respect we former cricketers get.”

Sivaramakrishnan had also pointed out a flaw in Ashwin’s bowling action previously while also stating that his record in ‘SENA’ was poor.

Ashwin, who had not mentioned the incident previously, brought it up in a hilarious exchange on social media today (March 19). Known for interacting with different parody accounts of Indian celebrities, Ashwin was, engaged in a conversation with a fake account of actor Janhvi Kapoor, who thanked him for getting her tickets for the Chennai Super Kings-Royal Challengers Bangalore game at Chepauk.

Ashwin, who had previously tweeted about the unavailability of tickets, requested her to exchange her tickets with him.

To this, a parody account of Amit Shah, India’s home minister, replied, saying he was in line for the tickets as well.

Ashwin asked him if he would be joining an upcoming rally ahead of the general elections. The parody account then stated Ashwin was always welcome to meet him, after which the spinner replied with a meme of Sivaramakrishnan that said “Call me please”.
