Grant Bradburn resigned as Pakistan’s high-performance coach on Monday (January 8), ending his long ties with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in multiple roles.

Grant Bradburn was appointed Pakistan’s head coach on a two-year deal from May 2023 after a successful spell as a consultant. He also had prior experiences serving as the fielding coach of Pakistan from 2018 to 2020 before a stint at their National Cricket Academy (NCA).

However, Pakistan’s coaching jobs underwent wholesale changes after the side’s group-stage exit in the 2023 World Cup. Bradburn was sent back to the NCA in Lahore to work as a high-performance coach.

On X (formerly Twitter), Bradburn announced his departure from the coaching role, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity: “Time to close the amazing chapter that has been Pakistan cricket. Three roles over five years, I am proud of what’s been achieved and grateful to have worked with so many outstanding players, coaches and staff. Wishing the teams, staff and everyone at Pakistan Cricket continued success and growth.”

The former New Zealand off-spinner represented his country in seven Tests and 11 ODIs in the 1990s and 2000s. According to a Telegraph report, he is now set to join Glamorgan as the all-format head coach. Bradburn pipped highly-rated county assistant coaches like Paul Tweddle (Somerset) and Paul Franks (Nottinghamshire) in that role.

Pakistan recently lost the three-match Test series in Australia 0-3, and have not won a Test match on Australian soil since 1995. They will now face New Zealand in a five-match T20I series, marking Shaheen Afridi’s maiden assignment as the T20I captain.
