India have rested Shardul Thakur and Shubman Gill for the ODI, while Axar Patel is yet to recover from his injury. Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, will return to the fray, along with Mohammed Siraj. They may replace Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna.

Rohit Sharma will return to captain India after KL Rahul led them to an unassailable 2-0 lead. In the absence of Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad, India’s captain at the Asian Games, Ishan Kishan may open batting with Rohit, while Virat Kohli will bat at one-down. India may also give Washington Sundar a game instead of Ravindra Jadeja.

Match prediction – Today’s India-Australia live match

The result will not be of as much consequence as how the individuals play here – not because it is a ‘dead rubber’ clash but because both sides will want to have a last look at the cricketers before they announce their final squads for the World Cup.

Having said that, India will take field as favourites.
