The winners of the 2023 ODI World Cup will walk away with a prize money of USD 4 million, similar to the amount champions England won in 2019 — here’s the entire breakdown of how much each team will pocket in the upcoming event.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have allocated a sum of USD 10 million for the prize money for this year’s men’s ODI World Cup, with the winners walking away with USD 4 million, and the losing finalists earning a prize of USD 2 million.

The tournament that will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad will also award the losing semi- finalists USD 800,000. Every winner of each league game will also win USD 40,000 per match. With 45 league games scheduled, the ICC will shell out USD 180,000 in the first round of the tournament.

The ICC will also award the six teams that do not qualify for the semi-finals a sum of USD 100,000 each, which means that all the ten participating sides will be assured of a share of the prize money.

The men’s ODI World Cup will have a round-robin format, featuring all ten participating teams over 45 league matches. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for November 15 in Mumbai and November 16 in Kolkata, with reserve days allotted.

Defending champions England and 2019 runners-up New Zealand will commence the tournament, while the host nation, India, will launch their campaign against five-time champions Australia on October 8. The tournament will culminate with the final on November 19 in Ahmedabad.

Recently, the ICC announced their decision to offer equal prize money to both the men’s and women’s World Cups. The Women’s World Cup will be played in 2025.

2023 World Cup prize money:

Winners: USD 4 million
Runners-up: USD 2 million
Losing semifinalists: USD 800,000 per team
Teams eliminated after the first round: USD 100,000 per team
