The auction for the second edition of the SA20 competition will take place in Johannesburg today (September 27). Here is where you can watch the SA20 2024 auction live, including TV channels and live streaming details.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the inaugural edition of the SA20 earlier this year, beating Pretoria Capitals in the final. The second edition of the tournament is scheduled to start on January 1027, 2024. Teams have announced their list of pre-signed players but will battle it out on the auction table today (September 27) to fill in the remaining spots.

SA20 2024 Auction: Rules

Each team in SA20 2024 is allowed to have 19 players in their squad. The constraints among those 19 include: a minimum of 10 South African players, a maximum of seven overseas players, one “Wildcard” player, and one “Rookie” player.

Any South African player aged 22 or less on the day of the auction and having not played in the SA20 league before can be considered as a “Rookie” player.

A “Wildcard” player is one whose fee will be excluded from the salary cap, which stands at R39.1 million per team.

A total of 257 players have registered for the auction, but only 21 slots are up for grabs, meaning the competition will be tight. Tristan Stubbs was the most expensive player in the 2023 SA20 auction, getting picked by the Sunrisers Eastern Cape at R9.2 million.
