T20 World Cup 2024 squads, live updates: Squad announcements for all 20 teams at the T20WC
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 begins on June 1, and the deadline to announce squads is May 1: here are the updated squads of all 20 teams as and when they are being announced.
Teams will be announcing their provisional squads by May 1, with the option of making changes until May 25, after which alterations will need the approval of the ICC’s Event Technical Committee.
Squads will be updated here as and when they are confirmed.
May 13: Netherlands announce squad
Roelof van der Merwe misses out of T20 World Cup squad
Veteran left-arm spin bowling all-rounder van der Merwe was not available for selection as Netherlands have announced a youth-focused squad for the T20 World Cup. Scott Edwards, who led them at the World Cup last year in India, will continue as the skipper.

May 10: Namibia name squad
Gerhard Erasmus to lead as Nicol Loftie-Eaton ignored
Erasmus will continue to lead Namibia at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The squad also contains the evergreen T20 journeyman David Wiese, while 23-year-old all-rounder Loftie-Eaton who scored a 33-ball ton against Nepal earlier this year, has been left out.

May 9: Sri Lanka announce squad
Wanindu Hasaranga back to lead Sri Lanka
Hasaranga will return from injury which saw him miss IPL 2024 to lead Sri Lanka at the T20 World Cup. The squad also contains the experienced Angelo Mathews, with Charith Asalanka to deputize Hasaranga.

May 8: Papua New Guinea name squad
Assad Valla to lead PNG in second men’s T20 World Cup campaign
Valla was PNG’s captain for the 2021 T20 World Cup, and will continue in his role. Nine other members of that squad have made it to the 2024 T20 World Cup team.

May 7: Ireland announce squad
Experienced Paul Stirling to lead Ireland
Stirling will lead an experienced side which has former skipper Andy Balbirnie, George Dockrell, and Mark Adair among others.

Richie Berrington to lead, Brad Wheal returns for Scotland
Michael Jones and Brad Wheal return to the Scotland side, but won’t be available for the Netherlands T20Is that precede the World Cup. Richie Berrington, meanwhile, will continue to lead.

Brian Masaba to be Uganda’s first captain at a T20 World Cup
Uganda will appear for the first time in the men’s T20 World Cup. They will be led by Masaba, who will have several experienced players for company including the 43-year-old Frank Nsubuga, one of the oldest players set to feature in the T20 World Cup.

May 3: Hosts West Indies and USA announce squad
Shamar Joseph, Shimron Hetmyer included for West Indies
West Indies will be led by Rovman Powell, with Alzarri Joseph as his deputy. Apart from the duo, the squad features firebrand players like Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, and Shimron Hetmyer. Oshane Thomas and Kyle Mayers have been dropped.

Corey Anderson, who played the final of the 2015 ODI World Cup for New Zealand, will represent the USA in the upcoming edition. The co-hosts, led by Monank Patel, will be boosted by the return of Ali Khan, who has recovered from a hamstring injury.

Saad Bin Zafar to lead Canada
Canada will be led by Saad Bin Zafar, and will include former captain Navneet Dhaliwal as well as senior professionals Dilon Heyliger, Harsh Thaker, and Ravinderpal Singh.

Fraser-McGurk, Smith left out of Australia’s squad
Jake Fraser-McGurk and Steve Smith both failed to make the cut for Australia, while Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green have been picked. They will be led by Mitchell Marsh, as expected.

Oman’s squad consists of eight members of the 2021 T20 World Cup team, and will be led by Aqib Ilyas, who takes over from former captain Zeeshan Maqsood.

Nepal will be led by Rohit Paudel. The squad also includes Sompal Kami, who was part of the 2014 T20 World Cup squad as well.

KL Rahul has not made the cut for the T20 World Cup, while Rinku Singh has been kept in the reserves. Hardik Pandya will be Rohit Sharma’s deputy, meanwhile.

Markram to lead SA
South Africa announced their squad with Aiden Markram leading the side. Three players from the 2022 edition – Temba Bavuma, Rilee Rossouw and Wayne Parnell – aren’t part of the current squad. The team has two uncapped players, Ryan Rickelton and pacer Ottniel Baartman.

Several youngsters make the Afghanistan squad
Afghanistan have made several additions to their squad from the 2022 edition, including picking Karim Janat, Mohammad Ishaq, Noor Ahmad and Nangyal Kharoti. Wicketkeeper Mohammad Ishaq, who played the 2022 Under-19 World Cup team, makes it as well.

April 29: Williamson to lead Blackcaps
Chris Jordan expected to be recalled in England squad – reports
According to a Cricinfo report, veteran England seam-bowler Chris Jordan is expected to make the cut for the T20 World Cup squad ahead of Chris Woakes. According to the report, Jamie Overton, who was being considered for an all-rounder’s spot, has been ruled out due to injury, while Tom Hartley is expected to be the second spinner to support Adil Rashid.
New Zealand announce squad
Kane Williamson returns to lead the New Zealand squad for the T20 World Cup, which has just two changes from the team that played in 2022. Devon Conway, currently recovering from injury, has been named in the provisional squad.
Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra have been included this time, while Martin Guptill and Adam Milne are the ones missing out from the 2022 squad list.

England to announce team tomorrow
The England squad will be announced at 10am UK time on April 30. Ben Stokes isn’t available for selection, having opted out from the tournament. Jos Buttler will lead the side that could see the return of quick Jofra Archer.
When will India squad be announced?
There’s been considerable buzz around the India squad announcement, which is likely to not have any major surprises. Among the major talking points is the potential inclusion of Sanju Samson, and whether KL Rahul will make the cut. Rohit Sharma is confirmed to lead the squad.
April 28: Jake Fraser-McGurk in or out?
Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has been in great touch in his ongoing debut IPL season is likely to be included in the Australia squad for the World Cup, despite playing no T20Is yet. Steve Smith could be one of the big names to miss out – not part of the IPL this time, he could be pipped by other opening options.
