India take on South Africa in a home T20I series beginning June 9, 2022 – here’s the full India squad for the series, including player replacement news and injury updates.
The series will be the first one since the end of IPL 2022, where a number of young Indian players came to the fore. The India squad has a few notable absentees, with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah all resting for the series.
The team was initially supposed to be led by KL Rahul, with Rishabh Pant being the vice-captain. There are three wicketkeepers in the squad: Pant, Dinesh Karthik, and Ishan Kishan. In the spin department, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Chahal make a return, with Ravi Bishnoi continuing as the leg-spinner, with Axar Patel too in the squad. Chahal was the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2022, earning the Purple Cap this year after taking the most wickets by a spinner ever in a season. Karthik is set to make his first appearance for India since 2019.
