The official schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup is out. The tournament starts on August 30. Here are all the details regarding India’s schedule in the tournament, including India’s full fixtures list, match timings, and venues.

There had been a lot of controversy regarding the schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup given the constant political tensions between India and Pakistan. After several revisions of the draft schedule, the official schedule was finally released on July 19.

This year the Asia Cup will be played in the 50-over format, as a preparatory event for Asian teams before the 50-over World Cup in India between October-November, 2023.

Asia Cup 2023: Teams, Venues, and Format

Six teams will feature in the 2023 Asia Cup, divided into two groups of three each for the first round. The first round will see each team play two games in a single round-robin format, followed by the top two teams from both groups proceeding to the Super Fours. Here are the group divisions.

Group A: Pakistan, India, Nepal
Group B: Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka

The Super Fours will be played in a single round-robin format as well with each of the four teams playing three matches each. The top two teams will then play in the Final on September 17.

The 13-match tournament will be played across Pakistan and Sri Lanka with the former hosting four games and the latter nine, including the Final.

India will play all its matches in Sri Lanka, across Kandy and Colombo. Here’s India’s full fixtures list for Asia Cup 2023, assuming they qualify for the Super Fours and then the Final.

September 2: Pakistan vs India, Kandy, Sri Lanka
September 4: India vs Nepal, Kandy, Sri Lanka
September 10: A1 vs A2 (Super Fours), Colombo, Sri Lanka
September 12: A2 vs B1 (Super Fours), Colombo, Sri Lanka
September 15: A2 vs B2 (Super Fours), Colombo, Sri Lanka
September 17: Final (Super Fours 1 vs Super Fours 2), Colombo, Sri Lanka

India will qualify as A2, while Pakistan will qualify as A1 from their group irrespective of their position in the table after Round 1 (if they end up in the top two).

Similarly, Sri Lanka will qualify as B1 and Bangladesh as B2 from Group B. If Nepal or Afghanistan qualify from either group, they will take replace the respective eliminated team from their group as either A1 or A2 and B1 or B2.

The schedule will potentially allow India to play a maximum of six games, with as many as three of them being against Pakistan.
