The ninth edition of the Women’s Big Bash League gets underway today (October 19) at the North Sydney Oval with Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars clashing in the first game of the tournament. Adelaide Strikers, the winners of the previous season, will play their first game on October 21 against the Melbourne Stars.

A total of 59 matches will be played in the tournament across nearly one and a half months, with the final scheduled on December 2. All eight teams will play each other twice in the league stage, amounting to 56 league games.
The top-ranked side will progress directly to the final, while the third and fourth ranked sides will play in an Eliminator. The winner of the Eliminator will then face the team that finished second on the points table to determine the second finalist, taking the number of knockout games to three including the final.
