England fast bowler James Anderson has put his mementos from this year’s Cape Town Test up for auction to raise money for charities.

The Test was Anderson’s last before a rib injury suffered on the final day of the match ruled him out of the rest of England’s tour with South Africa. He was still able to contribute seven wickets in England’s 189-run victory, breaking Ian Botham’s record for the most Test five-fors taken by an Englishman in the process. 

Anderson’s shirt, bat and a stump from the match have now been put up for auction as he looks to raise money for the Go Well Fund, set up by him and fellow members of the Tailenders podcast. The fund is aiming to help vulnerable people affected by the coronavirus pandemic, with donations going to the National Emergencies Trust and the Trussell Trust. 

The winning bidder will have the option for their mementos to be signed by England’s most prolific wicket-taker. At the current time of writing, the highest bid stands at £5,000 on eBay, with the auction to end at 4pm BST on May 1.
