Watch: Naseem Shah gave yet another animated send-off to Rahmanullah Gurbaz after dismissing him in the 2023 Lanka Premier League opener on Sunday (July 30).

Playing for Colombo Strikers, Naseem Shah struck in his second over of the innings against defending champions Jaffna Kings, sending Gurbaz back with the fifth ball. Pitched on the middle stump, the full-pitched delivery left Gurbaz in knots as he looked to loft it over long-on for six. However, he mistimed it entirely, and Ramesh Mendis ran backwards to take a stunning tumbling catch.

Naseem went on to celebrate joyously, letting out an animated roar before walking up towards Gurbaz and staring at him. He uttered a few words as well, but Gurbaz did not escalate the matter and walked away for an 11-ball 21.

Gurbaz had been dropped earlier in the innings in Naseem’s first over, when the slip fielder failed to latch on to the outside edge and the ball went for four. He also hit two more sixes, including one off Naseem, off the delivery before his dismissal.

This is not the first time that Gurbaz was at the receiving end of Naseem’s outburst. Naseem had given a send-off after dismissing him during a 2023 Pakistan Super League game as well.

A few days later, Gurbaz smashed a 98-metre six against Naseem in a T20I match to kickstart Afghanistan’s successful run chase of 131 against Pakistan.

Last year, Naseem had smashed two successive sixes against Afghanistan during the Asia Cup game, when Pakistan needed 11 runs to win in six balls, with one wicket left. Chasing 130 for a win, Afghanistan were on the brink of pulling off a great heist, but Naseem had other ideas.
