Phew! That was quite something! An auction that ebbed and flowed from the moment it began. It had plenty of surprises and several cricketers returning to their old teams. But there were also several intriguing marriages that took place. Almost all teams will be happy with the kind of business they conducted but we won’t know for sure how it materializes until the IPL starts proper!

The final player of the day is Akash Madhwal. Any takers? Nothing so far, and UNSOLD! 

Aman Khan sold to KKR! Kulwant Khejroliya remains UNSOLD! 

Any interest for Andrew Tye? Nothing at all. UNSOLD! Rohan Kadam anyone? No bids, goes UNSOLD! Sameer Rizvi goes UNSOLD too! B Sai Sudharsan sold to GT! Luvnith Sisodia sold to RCB! Aryan Juyal and Fabian Allen sold to MI! David Willey goes to RCB at INR 2 crore! 

RR into frantic bidding mode now. They acquire Daryl Mitchell and Rassie van der Dussen in quick succession! Siddharth Kaul sold to RCB! 

No interest for Ishant Sharma again? Well, he remains UNSOLD! Any interest for Qais Ahmed? No, zero interest! Vicky Ostwal, meanwhile, is bought by DC! 

James Neesham out of the bag now, and sold to RR for INR 1.5 crores! RR come in for Nathan Coulter-Nile as well! And, get their man for base price!

Right. We are back. Mohammad Nabi up first! KKR open the bidding and that is the closing bid too! Sold to KKR for INR 1 crore! KKR raise the paddle for Umesh Yadav too. Umesh will be a Knight Rider in 2022! 

By the looks of it, we are going to have another round of the accelerated auction. Each team has to submit two names and those will then go under the hammer. Stick around folks!

The final player out of this set is Rohan Rana. No takers and he goes UNSOLD! 

Shubham Garhwal sold to RR for INR 20 lakh! Duan Jansen remains UNSOLD! Khizar Dafedar is up next and there is no interest for him either. UNSOLD! 

Bharat Sharma returns for another round. Goes UNSOLD! Arjun Tendulkar up now, and he attracts bids from GT and MI! MI close the deal at INR 30 lakh!

Right. This is a sight to behold. Hugh Edmeades, who had to endure a medical emergency yesterday, is now back for what remains of this auction. This is such a heartening sight to see that he is well and looking as good as he has ever done.

Chinntla Readdi and Bharat Sharma go UNSOLD too!

Hrithik Shokeen sold to MI for INR 20 lakh! Pratyush Singh remains UNSOLD! Shubham Sharma goes UNSOLD! K Bhagath Varma sold to CSK for INR 20 lakh! 

Kuldip Yadav sold to RR! Colin Munro, meanwhile, goes UNSOLD! Varun Aaron will play for GT in IPL 2022! Blessing Muzarabani goes UNSOLD again! Shivank Vashisth gets no bidders either! Ramesh Kumar sold to KKR for INR 20 lakh. Nothing for Gerald Coetzee too!

Benny Howell gets a bid from PBKS, who have been very intent on signing English players. And, they have another – that too at his base price! 

No takers for Kane Richardson? Apparently not. UNSOLD! Tim Southee has an IPL gig again – this time, with the Kolkata Knight Riders!

Gurkeerat Singh Mann out of the bag next. GT with the opening and the closing bid at INR 50 lakh! Rahul Buddhi goes to MI for INR 20 lakh!

Is there interest in the room for Moises Henriques? Not quite. UNSOLD! Not much for Akeal Hosein either! UNSOLD! Can Scott Kuggeleijn get a bid? No, he can’t!

Bhanuka Rajapaksa gets a bid from PBKS and is sold for INR 50 lakh!

Mayank Yadav gets a bid from LSG and is bought for INR 20 lakh!

Dhruv Jurel and the opening bid is with RR. That is also the closing bid! Sold to RR! Tejas Baroka goes to RR as well!

Atharva Taide – a talented young all-rounder, finally gets a bid from PBKS and is bought at his base price! 

Andrew Tye is the new pacer in the market but goes UNSOLD! No takers for Atit Sheth and Tanmay Agarwal either! Nothing for B Sai Sudharsan Sameer Rizvi too! Ramandeep Singh, though, gets picked by MI!

SRH are looking quite active and they acquire Fazalhaq Farooqi at his base price! However, there is no interest generated for Reece Topley!

Tim Seifert is in and DC’s paddle instantly goes up. Sold to DC at base price! Nathan Ellis, too, goes at base price to Punjab Kings! 

Charith Asalanka anybody? No takers again and he goes UNSOLD! No interest for Rahmanullah Gurbaz either! Similar fate awaits Ben McDermottGlenn Phillips fares slightly better and is sold to SRH for INR 1.5 crore!

Karun Nair up for grabs now. Attracts interest from KKR and RCB immediately. The bid is now with KKR at INR 1 crore. RCB raise it to INR 1.1 crore and KKR finally budge. RR come into the picture and bid INR 1.2 crore. RR have the highest bid at INR 1.4 crore and bring Karun on board!

LSG swoop in for Evin Lewis. They bid INR 2 crore and snap him up! 

Right. How many bids can we get for Alex Hales? KKR open the bidding and that is the closing bid too! Sold for INR 1.5 crore!

No luck for Harnoor Singh again as he goes UNSOLDMujtaba Yousuf, too, is UNSOLD! Kuldeep Sen, meanwhile, gets an opening bid from RR and is sold for INR 20 lakh! 

Lungi Ngidi in the pool now and gets an opening bid from DC. That is also the closing bid. SOLD! Karn Sharma attracts a bid from RCB and is sold at base price!

James Neesham anyone? No takers so far and he goes UNSOLD! Similar fate awaits Qais Ahmed and Sheldon Cottrell! 

England’s Chris Jordan out of the bag now, and he gets a bid from RCB! Gets another bid from CSK as well. CSK with the bid at INR 3.6 crore and sold to CSK! 

N Jagadeesan in the auction and, goes to CSK! Vishnu Vinod up next and he has attracted the interest of MI and SRH! MI are out now and SRH seal the deal at INR 50 lakh!

C Hari Nishaanth up next! CSK open the bidding, as expected and sold to CSK at base price! Anmolpreet Singh gets a bid from MI and is sold at base price too!

Right. Can Umesh Yadav get any bids? No takers again. UNSOLD! 

When it rains, it pours! GT in for another keeper in Matthew Wade. Punjab better it with an INR 2.2 crore bid. GT with the highest bid at INR 2.4 crore and sold to GT for that price!

Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha up for grabs! CSK with the opening bid and they are rivaled by GT. The bid is with GT at INR 1.9 crore and sold to the Titans! They have a wicket-keeper, at last!

Time for Sam Billings now! KKR open the bidding at INR 2 crore, and that is the closing bid too. Billings sold to KKR! 

Shakib Al Hasan up next. No bids again! UNSOLD! 

The first name out in this set is David Miller! RR open the bidding at INR 1 crore. GT strike back now. Bid has gone up to INR 1.7 crore and is with GT. Bid is now up to INR 2.8 crore and is with RR. RR are priced out at INR 3 crore, though! Miller sold to GT for INR 3 crore!

And, we are finally getting underway. Stay glued, folks, this will rattle along at a brisk pace!

Hello and welcome back! I am Shashwat Kumar and can’t wait to get this accelerated bidding round underway. Plenty of gaps to plug for a lot of teams and they have a bit of money remaining too. Could get quite fascinating!

A quick break, after which we’ll be back for what could be the final few sets of the day in the second accelerated round.

The last player in this accelerated set is Anunay Singh! And, he is sold to RR for INR 20 lakh! 

Quite a lot of bidding for Ashok Sharma. Sold for INR 55 lakh to KKR! No bidders for Ashutosh Sharma though!

Nothing for Vidarbha pacer Lalit Yadav and it stays that way. UNSOLD! Mohammed Arshad Khan gets a bidder in MI and is sold for INR 20 lakh! PBKS come in for Ansh Patel and snap him up for INR 20 lakh!

West Indies’ Kyle Mayers attracts LSG’s attention and he will play for them this season! Sold for INR 50 lakh! Karan Sharma will join him too! Baltez Dhanda, meanwhile, will ply his trade for PBKS. Sold for INR 20 lakh!

Saurabh Dubey and Shashank Singh sold to SRH for INR 20 lakh each, Writtick Chatterjee, meanwhile, has been bought by PBKS for INR 20 lakh! Nothing for his namesake (relatively) Hrithik Shokeen though!

Karnataka batter R Samarth gets SRH’s attention and is sold for INR 20 lakh to SRH! Abhijeet Tomar finds a buyer in KKR too and is sold for INR 40 lakh! Pradeep Sangwan goes to GT for his base price! Nothing for U-19 star Kaushal Tambe though! Pratham Singh sold to KKR for INR 20 lakh as well!

England’s David Willey up next. No takers. UNSOLD! Nothing for Blessing Muzarabani either!

No luck for David Wiese and Kennar Lewis. Baba Indrajith, however, gets an opening bid of INR 20 lakh from KKR and is sold for that amount! KKR open the bidding for Chamika Karunaratne too, and get their man for that price!

Ayush Badoni into the auction and is sold to LSG at his INR 20 lakh base price! Aneeshwar Gautam also attracts a bid from RCB and is sold to them at INR 20 lakh! Nothing for Benny Howell and Hayden Kerr though! Nothing for Atit Sheth, Dhruv Patel, Saurabh Kumar and Shams Mulani too!

Riley Meredith interests MI and he is bought for INR 1 crore! Kane Richardson isn’t as fortunate, though. UNSOLD! Rahul Buddhi is also UNSOLD! No bids for Englishman Laurie Evans either.

Dhawal Kulkarni now. Any takers? No, he goes UNSOLD!

Alzarri Joseph out of the bag now. DC and MI battle for a bid before PBKS swoop in. The bid is with PBKS at INR 95 lakh. But hang on, Gujarat Titans enter the fray. PBKS are out at INR 2.4 crore and GT get their man for INR 2.4 crore! 

Sean Abbott up next. DC and SRH begin the bidding. DC are out now but PBKS enter at INR 1.1 crore. SRH and PBKS going strong. The bid is with PBKS at INR 2.2 crore. SRH raise it to INR 2.4 crore and that is the price at which they get Sean Abbott! 

Right. Do we have any bids for Pawan Negi? No, we don’t.

Any bids for Roston Chase? Not quite. UNSOLD! Nothing for Ben Cutting either!

Right. We are back. We start off with Martin Guptill but he finds no buyers. Bhanuka Rajapaksa up next and he too goes UNSOLD!

Midhun Sudhesan the final player before a mini-break. Any takers? No. UNSOLD! 

Prashant Solanki is attracting quite a bit of attention – both from CSK and RR. For those wondering, he is a leg-spinner who plays domestic cricket for Mumbai. CSK with the bid at INR 1 crore. CSK raise it to INR 1.2 crore and knock RR out of the contest. Solanki sold to CSK for INR 1.2 crore! 

Nothing for Mayank Yadav and Tejas Baroka! Can Yuvraj Chudasama get a bid? No, he can’t. UNSOLD!

Chama Milind gets an opening bid from SRH for INR 20 lakh. RCB better it and ultimately, get their man for INR 25 lakh!

Mohsin Khan up next and he attracts LSG’s attention. Sold to LSG for INR 20 lakh! 

Any takers for Ben Dwarshuis? Nothing so far. Goes UNSOLD! No bids for Pankaj Jaswal either!

Mukesh Choudhary up next and CSK get him at his base price (INR 20 lakh)! Similarly, Rasikh Dar is sold to KKR for INR 20 lakh!

Finally, some action. KKR and PBKS to battle it out for Vaibhav Arora! KKR hold the bid at INR 95 lakh. PBKS hit back with an INR 1 crore bid of their own. They keep going. PBKS holding the top bid at INR 1.8 crore. And, PBKS get Arora for INR 2 crore!

Atharva Taide – excellent young all-rounder from Vidarbha up next. Gets no bidders though. UNSOLD! No takers for Prashant Chopra either! Aryan Juyal and Dhruv Jurel are unsold too!

Suyash Prabhudesai interests RCB, and they get him for INR 30 lakh! Ramandeep Singh isn’t that lucky and goes UNSOLD! A similar fate awaits B Sai Sudharsan too!

Prekar Mankad out of the bag and immediately gets a bid from PBKS. Sold for INR 20 lakh! 

Leg-spinner Pravin Dubey up for auction. DC (the team he has represented previously) and RCB (he plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket) express interest. DC outlast RCB and sign Dubey for INR 50 lakh! 

Tim David is here! DC and KKR enter the bidding war. PBKS want a piece of the action too. LSG are also a part of it and the current bid is with LSG at INR 2 crore. KKR price them out at INR 2.6 crore but RR aren’t going to let David go by. Oh my! KKR have gone up to INR 5 crore, with RR not budging either. And, we go on, although with another player in MI this time. MI hold the bid at INR 7.25 crore. Finally sold to MI for INR 8.25 crore!

Apoorv Wankhade and Atharva Ankolekar unfortunately don’t find any buyers.

Subhranshu Senapati gets a bid from CSK for INR 20 lakh and is sold to CSK! 

Anyone in for Sandeep Warrier, who made his international debut in Sri Lanka in July 2021? No interest at all. UNSOLD! Tanmay Agarwal scored tons of runs in the recent domestic season. Surely someone will pick up him? No? Oh my! UNSOLD! Tom Kohler-Cadmore does not fetch a bid either.

Right. Can Reece Topley get any bids? No, he can’t. UNSOLD! Andrew Tye meets a similar fate too.

Adam Milne up for auction. CSK and PBKS show their interest immediately. CSK stay strong at INR 1.9 crore and Milne will play for CSK in 2022! 

Tymal Mills, who has become an important member of England’s T20I side, is up next. SRH open the bidding at INR 1 crore. MI come into the fray as well. PBKS are also in now. MI stay firm at INR 1.5 crore and get their man!

RR open the bidding for Obed McCoy at INR 75 lakh. That is the closing bid too! McCoy sold to RR!

Jason Behrendorff in now and he is snapped up for his base price by RCB! Nathan Ellis goes UNSOLD though! No bids for Fazalhaq Farooqi and Siddharth Kaul too.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz now! No takers for the youngster and he goes UNSOLD! No bids for Australia’s Ben McDermott either. Not much luck for New Zealand’s Glenn Philipps too!

Romario Shepherd up for auction. MI and LSG begin the bidding. Bid is already up to INR 2.4 crore and LSG have been priced out of another deal. CSK, though, come in now. CSK with the bid at INR 3.8 crore. MI opt out but SRH don’t want to lose out on the fun. Current bid with SRH at INR 4.8 crore. They raise it to INR 5.25 crore but are now being rivaled by RR. Madness! RR have taken the bidding up to INR 7 crore. And, SRH hit right back. RR are out at INR 7.75 crore and Shepherd is sold to SRH for INR 7.75 crore!

Mitchell Santner now! Any takers? Base price is set at INR 1 crore. SRH open the bidding. CSK come back for their former player (of course, they do). Bid at INR 1.9 crore and with CSK. Santner returns to CSK! 

Daniel Sams next up. LSG and MI look interested. MI take the bid up to INR 2.6 crore and LSG simply don’t have enough money. Sold to MI!

Sherfane Rutherford out of the bag and immediately attracts a bid from RCB! Opening bid at INR 1 crore and sold to RCB for that price!

Dwaine Pretorius now! CSK open the bidding at INR 50 lakh and that is the closing bid too! Sold to CSK! Shrewd buy! 

England fast bowler George Garton under the hammer. No takers so far and it remains that way. UNSOLD! 

Rishi Dhawan up next! SRH open the bidding and PBKS follow suit as well. SRH, though, are out at INR 55 lakh, which means that Rishi Dhawan is sold to PBKS for INR 55 lakh!

Charith Asalanka out of the bag! No interest? None. UNSOLD! 

Jofra Archer now! He will not play this season but is a long-term investment. MI and RR are having a right go at each other. The bidding has zinged up to INR 5 crore and is with MI. MI have more money that any other team and this bidding war seems a foregone conclusion. No side, apart from MI can afford Archer, who remember, will not feature in 2022. The bid is with MI at INR 7.5 crore now. SRH try to battle but can’t. Sold to MI for INR 8 crore! Bumrah and Archer in tandem from 2023. Read that again!

Rassie van der Dussen now! Expect him to spark a bidding war. No? Oh my. UNSOLD! 

Rovman Powell time! Lucknow with the opening bid. DC come in too. DC hold the bid at INR 1 crore. But wait, CSK also arrive with an INR 1.1 crore bid. CSK with the bid at INR 1.5 crore, which is raised to INR 2 crore by DC.  CSK get priced out at INR 2.8 crore by DC. Powell sold to DC for INR 2.8 crore! 

Karun Nair into the fold! Can he get any bids? He has started bowling a bit lately, so that could be another dimension to his acquisition. No takers, though. UNSOLD! 

Evin Lewis now. No interest again and he goes UNSOLD!

Alex Hales under the hammer now. He has been brilliant in the ongoing PSL and could be an excellent options for a lot of teams. No interest so far though and he remains UNSOLD! 

Right. Devon Conway in the house. Any takers? CSK make the opening bid at INR 1 crore. Sold to CSK! 

And, we start off with Finn Allen! Can the Kiwi batter get any bids? RCB open the bidding at INR 50 lakh and are rivaled by RR. RR are out at INR 80 lakh. The bid is now with RCB and sold to RCB! 

We are back with live updates of the IPL 2022 auction. The accelerated auction is upon us and there are a total of 106 names. Let’s go!

Right. We will now have a five-minute break, post which the accelerated auction will begin. I (Shashwat Kumar) will be back to take you through all the IPL 2022 auction live updates! Stick around, folks!

Akash Singh is the last player in this set. Left-arm pacer who played for the Royals in 2021. No bids so far and he remains UNSOLD! 

Mujtaba Yousuf is the next player out of the bag. Is there any interest across the room? None at all. UNSOLD! Can Kuldeep Sen fare any better? Doesn’t seem like it. He too goes UNSOLD! 

Simarjeet Singh now. And CSK have made the opening bid. That will also be the closing bid. Simarjeet sold to CSK for INR 20 lakh! 

Yash Dayal up next. The bid has already gone up to INR 80 lakh and is with GT. Well well. GT have had to bid as high as INR 2.8 crore, and RCB reply with an INR 3 crore bid. GT ultimately seal the deal for Dayal at INR 3.2 crore!

Arzan Nagwaswalla? Surely some team could have bid for him?! He has been a part of India’s recent touring parties as a net bowler. No bid yet. UNSOLD!

Yash Thakur, pacer from Vidarbha, up now! Any takers? No interest from the franchises. UNSOLD!

Uncapped fast bowlers now. Vasu Vats the first name out of the bag. No interest and goes UNSOLD! 

The last player in this category is Rajvardhan Hangargekar! Base price is set at INR 30 lakh. Surely someone will swoop in? MI come in with the first bid. LSG are also into the fray now. CSK enter at INR 75 lakh now. MI bail out at INR 1.5 crore; the bid is with CSK! Sold to CSK! 

Raj Angad Bawa now! Surely he will get a few bidders? SRH open the bidding. MI and PBKS enter too. MI hold the bid at INR 1.1 crore now. PBKS hold the top bid at INR 2 crore. And, that is the price at which PBKS get their man! 

Sanjay Yadav enters the auction. MI and PBKS are battling for his services. PBKS are out at INR 50 lakh and Sanjay Yadav goes to MI for INR 50 lakh!

Vicky Ostwal, one of India’s U-19 stars up next. Any takers? Nothing so far. Remains UNSOLD! 

Darshan Nalkande, who recently took four wickets in four balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, goes next! GT bid for him and they acquire him for his base price INR 20 lakh!

Anukul Roy is the next player out! KKR submit the opening bid, and that is the closing bid too! Anukul will play for KKR! 

Mahipal Lomror under the hammer! RR, as expected, start the bidding for the all-rounder. But hang on, RCB want him too. Bid at INR 55 lakh and with RCB. RCB raise it to INR 95 lakh and RR are now out. Sold to RCB for INR 95 lakh!

N Tilak Varma, who has a T20 strike rate of 143.8 is up next. And, he gets a couple of bidders in RR and SRH. RR seem to be in pole position at INR 55 lakh but CSK make a late entry, with an INR 60 lakh bid. MI want a piece of the action too. They hold the bid at INR 1.1 crore. CSK look interested but withdraw as the bid reaches INR 1.7 crore. Sold to MI for INR 1.7 crore!

Right. Yash Dhull into the auction now! Base price is at INR 20 lakh. Guess what, DC start the bidding. PBKS arrive late at the market but arrive just in time. The bidding has gone up to INR 50 lakh and that is the price at which DC get Dhull! Frantic few minutes for DC, I must say!

Ripal Patel – another former DC cricketer under the hammer now. And, DC pick him up for INR 20 lakh!

The first set after the break is that of uncapped all-rounders. Lalit Yadav, who played for DC last season, is up for grabs. SRH open the bidding at INR 20 lakh and are quickly joined by DC. SRH are out of the reckoning and DC snap up Lalit for INR 65 lakh!

We’re back to resume bidding for the day. We could see more interest from some of the dormant teams today – RCB, for instance, are yet to make a single buy today.
