When does the IPL 2022 auction take place?
The auction for the 15th edition of the tournament will be held on February 12 and 13, in Bengaluru.
When and where can I watch the IPL 2021 auction?
The auction on both days is expected to begin at 12pm IST, and can be watched on the Star Sports Network. The auction can also be live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

How many players will be auctioned?
A total of 590 cricketers will be auctioned, with 370 Indians and 220 overseas players up for grabs.

How many players can a team buy?
All 10 IPL teams can select a maximum of 25 cricketers in the IPL team. A side needs to have at least 18 cricketers in their side.
Who are the retained players and what’s the remaining purse for the teams?
The eight existing teams retained a total of 27 players, with Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians retaining the maximum of four players.
The two new teams managed to buy three players apiece: Lucknow went in for KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi, while Team Ahmedabad bought Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill as the three players ahead of the auction.

IPL 2022: Auction rules and format
What are the base prices of players?
Each player could choose a base price of up to INR 2 crore for the IPL auction. The other price brackets are INR 1.5 crore, INR 1 crore, INR 75 lakhs, INR 50 lakhs, INR 40 lakhs, INR 30 lakhs and INR 20 lakhs. 48 players have kept themselves in the highest base price of INR 2 crore, including Indian stalwarts R Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer.

How do the players go up for auction?
The full list is divided on the basis of the players’ speciality: batsman, bowler, all-rounder, wicketkeeper, as well as their international experience – capped or uncapped. Based on their base price and speciality, players are added to different sets (62) in all, with the auctioneer (Hugh Edmeades) going through the list of player names and asking teams to pick.
There are 10 marquee players who will be auctioned first. There will also be an accelerated process for players who have gone unsold in the first rounds, but have been requested by at least one of the franchises to be re-entered towards the end of the auction.
According to reports, the maximum budget for each team could be bumped to INR 90 crore.
Is there a Right to Match (RTM) card available?
No. The RTM allowed a team to buy back a player that they had released at the highest bidding price that he received in the auction. However, the IPL 2022 auction will not have the RTM card.
