Watch: Charli Knott extracted huge turn to bowl an astonished Sophia Dunkley during the 2023 Women’s Big Bash League between Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat.

20-year-old off-spinner Knott, who is representing Brisbane Heat in this year’s WBBL, dismissed Dunkley with a ball that turned a huge mile, leaving the batter shell-shocked. The youngster, who started off proceedings by bowling the first over in Melbourne’s run chase of 151, got considerable turn off her first three balls before sending down a delivery that spun 6.5 degrees into Dunkley.

Dunkley looked to play the ball but did not anticipate the huge spin that would be generated. It ended up sneaking through under her bat to the stumps behind, leaving her stunned.

Knott’s first ball spun 1.7 degrees, which increased to 4.0 and 5.7 over the next two deliveries, before the massive turn of 6.5 degrees for the wicket ball. She also imparted considerable turn on the last two balls of the over too, getting the ball to spin 5.7 degrees and 6.3 degrees.

Knott ended with 2-13 in three overs to continue her fine run in T20s. In 26 innings, she averages 20.73 with a bowling strike rate of 7.16.

Brisbane ended up winning the game by 13 runs after keeping Melbourne Stars to 137-7. Brisbane have won all their four games thus far and are currently on top of the table.
