The Board of Control for Cricket in India have announced fantasy-gaming platform Dream11 as the new sponsor for the India cricket team — here’s all you need to know about the deal, including the partnership cycle, money, and other contract details.

Dream11 have replaced Byju’s, an ed-tech firm, as the lead Team India jersey sponsors for a period of three years. Recently, the senior men’s team and the Emerging women’s A team were seen without sponsors on their kits during the World Test Championship final and the ACC Emerging Cup, respectively.

For how long have Dream11 acquired the sponsorship deal?

Dream11 have struck a deal with the BCCI for a period of three years. According to the BCCI release, the logo will first be seen on the India jersey during the West Indies-India Tests, starting in the Caribbean on July 12.

Dream11 will, thus, be seen on the India kits till July 2026.

How much will Dream11 pay the BCCI per international match?

Following Byju’s exit, there was a bleak response from companies in the jersey sponsorship race, which forced the BCCI to reduce their base price per game. According to reports, the BCCI had set a base price of INR 3 crore per bilateral game featuring India and INR 1 crore for International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events.

The men’s team will play approximately 150 matches, including bilaterals and world events, during the next three years. Dream11 will shell out approximately INR 350 crore during the sponsorship cycle.

Dream11 and their partnerships in cricket

In 2017, Dream11 became the official partnership partner for the Caribbean Premier League. A year later, they announced a partnership with the ICC, becoming the exclusive official fantasy game partner till 2023.

In 2019, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced Dream11 as their title sponsors for the Super Smash, a domestic T20 competition. The deal has now been extended till 2026.

In 2020, it became the title sponsors of the Indian Premier League after shelling out INR 222 crore, after China-based brand Vivo pulled out due to political tensions between India and China.

Past jersey sponsors of the Indian team

Before Dream11, Byju‘s was the jersey sponsor of Team India. They had taken over from Oppo in 2019, who paid INR 4.61 crore per bilateral match to the BCCI, and INR 1.51 crore per ICC game. Oppo’s sponsorship deal ran from 2017 to 2022, and it was worth INR 1,079 crore to the BCCI.
