by Wisden Staff 1 minute read

Watch: England under-19 leg-spinner Tazeem Ali picked up his second third-wicket haul in the U19 World Cup, including two scalps in two overs against the West Indies on Friday (January 27).

England were bowled out for 192 in the first innings at Potchefstroom, with Nathan Edward picking up 3-28. In reply, the Windies were given an early blow as opener Adrian Weir was sent back for a duck. West Indies kept losing regular wickets and were 98-5 at one stage after Ali’s twin strikes in the space of two overs.

He first dismissed Mavendra Dindyal with a ripping googly with the third ball of the 14th over that took down his bails and then came back to dismiss the in-form Jewel Andrew in his next over with a leg-break delivery that came in after pitching on the leg-stump. Andrew had scored a century  and a fifty in the first two games of the event but departed for two against England.

Ali also dismissed skipper Stephan Pascal in the 32nd over and ended the game with 3-34 but his efforts went in vain as West Indies won in the end with two wickets to spare.
