The No.1 batter in the ICC T20I rankings fell for just 14, slicing the England leg-spinner into the deep.

‘How to keep Suryakumar quiet’ had been a hot topic of discussion ahead of the semi-final, with the India dangerman described as “essentially without weakness” by CricViz analyst Ben Jones.

But Rashid struck a significant blow to continue England’s strong start with the ball. India were 56-2 in the ninth over when Suryakumar came in, and though he struck one six, a top-edge flying over fine leg, he was unable to make a significant impact, mistiming a slow leg-break up in the air to be dismissed for 14.
