Conway blitzed his way to his second consecutive fifty of the tournament, smashing six sixes and as many fours on his way to a 45-ball 83. The RCB bowlers had few answers as he powered along, helped by Ajinkya Rahane first, and then Shivam Dube.

In the 16th over itself, Chennai had cruised to 170 and looked set to go well past 200, when Harshal finally gave his side a breakthrough. Relying on his slower ball, which has given him considerable success in the IPL of late, Harshal managed to sneak past Conway’s bat and castle him. The ball floated in the air and dipped into Conway, deceiving him with lack of pace and sending him back 17 short of a hundred.

Chennai did cruise past 200: they finished on 226-6 in 20 overs.
