Here is the updated 2023-2025 World Test Championship points table after India’s victory over England in the second Test of the five-match series in Vizag.

India jump up to second spot

Following their defeat in the first Test of the series in Hyderabad, India had slipped down to fifth on the 2023-2025 WTC points table. However, their series-levelling victory in the second Test in Vizag has brought them right back up to No.2.

This was India’s third victory from their sixth game in the cycle. With two defeats and a draw to go with it, their points percentage stands at 52.77 currently, 2.23 per cent behind Australia’s, who are at the top with 55 per cent.

England keep languishing at No.8

England suffered their third defeat of the cycle from their seventh game as their points percentage fell to 25. They are eighth on the table, with only Sri Lanka, who are yet to win a Test in the 2023-2025 WTC cycle, beneath them.

Above England are West Indies, who have won one and drawn one game out of four. Their points percentage stands at 33.33 per cent.

If England win the remaining three Tests in the series against India without dropping any points due to slow over rates, their points tally will go up to 57 from 10 games, with their points percentage making a massive jump from 25 to 47.5.

India, on the other hand, have a good opportunity to close in on Australia at the top. If they win the remaining three matches, they’ll reach 74 points and a points percentage of 68.5.

Which teams have Tests coming up?

South Africa and New Zealand are currently involved in the first match of their two-Test series in Mount Maunganui. South Africa are third, while New Zealand are fourth on the points table currently with 50 per cent points each.

The only other teams scheduled to face each other in a Test match starting February are New Zealand and Australia. The first game of their two-Test series starts on February 29.

India’s third Test against England, meanwhile will be played in Rajkot from February 15.
