India clinched the T20I series against Afghanistan 3-0 after the third game went into two Super Overs and here are the player ratings for the 16 players from the home side.

Shubman Gill: 4/10

1 match, 23 runs @ 23, SR: 191.66, HS: 23

Gill was unlikely to feature in the series but a last-minute injury to Yashasvi Jaiswal meant he played the first game before making way. A 12-ball 23 has kept him in the reckoning for the T20 World Cup.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: 7/10

2 matches, 72 runs @ 36, SR: 180, HS: 68

Jaiswal led the run chase in the Indore T20I with a 34-ball 68, hitting six sixes to vindicate the team’s trust in him, with the side preferring him over Gill. He failed to get going in the second game but has left his mark.

Rohit Sharma: 7.5/10

3 matches, 121 runs @ 60.50, SR: 168.05, HS: 121*

Rohit had a strange series: he scored twin ducks in the first two games before a record-breaking fifth ton in Bengaluru. However, he was run out by Gill in the first game and which would be harsh to dock him points for. When Rohit got his eye in, he ensured to remain unbeaten, seeing his team through from 22-4 to well over 200, although it was against a second-string attack. He is docked half a point for his captaincy and the decision to bowl first in the second T20I even though batting first has historically been a challenge for India.

Virat Kohli: 3/10

2 matches, 9 runs @ 14.50, SR: 170.58, HS: 29

Kohli missed the first T20I and scored a quick 16-ball 29 in the second game in the run chase of 173. However, he failed to carry on and was out for his first golden duck in the third T20I.

Shivam Dube: 8/10

3 matches, 124 runs @ 124, SR: 158.79, HS: 63*
2 wickets @ 35, ER: 10, BBI: 1-9

Dube has emerged as a strong contender to make the T20 World Cup team after impressive batting performances. He top-scored with a 40-ball 60 in the first game and saw India home with an unbeaten 63 at a strike rate of 196.88 in the next match. He was also effective with the ball.

Tilak Varma: 1/10

1 match, 26 runs @ 26, SR: 118.18, HS: 26

Tilak’s 22-ball 26 chasing 159 in Mohali did his chances no good – No other batter from the team who made a run scored at a strike rate below 150. He did not play the remaining two games after Kohli returned.

Jitesh Sharma: 2/10

2 matches, 31 runs @ 15.50, SR: 140.90, HS: 31

Jitesh played the first two T20Is but little contribution saw him replaced by Sanju Samson.

Sanju Samson: 2/10

1 match, 0 runs, 1 ball

After waiting for his chance in the series, Samson’s return was underwhelming – he was out for a golden duck in Bengaluru. He effected a quick stumping of Ibrahim Zadran and then ran out Karim Janat with a direct hit to get extra points.

Rinku Singh: 7/10

3 matches, 94 runs, SR: 164.91, HS: 69*

Rinku was unbeaten in all three innings and continued his spectacular run in T20Is. He started off with a nine-ball 16 and finished the innings with an unbeaten 69 in 39 deliveries, pacing his innings brilliantly after India lost four quick wickets.

Arshdeep Singh: 4/10

2 matches, 3 wickets @ 20.00, ER: 7.50, BBI: 3-32

Arshdeep was economical in the first game, conceding 28 in his four overs, even though he did not get a wicket. He picked up 3-32 in Indore, getting the crucial wicket of Janat.

Washington Sundar: 4.5/10

3 matches, 3 wickets @ 22.66, ER: 7.55, BBI: 3-18

Sundar kept things tight and was the most economical bowler in the final T20I, conceding six runs an over in a game where the next-best economy rate by an Indian was 9.50. He also picked up three scalps, including the big wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (50 off 32) and Mohammad Nabi (34 off 16).

Avesh Khan: 0.5/10

1 match, 1 wicket @ 55, ER: 13.75, BBI: 1-55

Avesh was picked for the third T20I and was expensive. He gave away 17 runs in the crucial 19th over when Afghanistan needed 36 to win the game, giving away two fours, a six and a wide.

Kuldeep Yadav: 2/10

1 match, 1 wicket @ 31.00, ER: 10.33, 1-31

Kuldeep played only one game: After giving away 14 in his first two overs, Kuldeep conceded 17 in his third, to change the momentum.

Mukesh Kumar: 3/10

3 matches, 2 wickets @ 49.00, ER: 9.80, 2-33

Kumar conceded 44 in the third T20I but managed to keep his cool in the last over, taking the game into the Super Over. He was chosen to bowl in the first Super Over, giving away 16 runs, nailing his yorkers more than he missed.

Axar Patel: 8/10

2 matches, 4 wickets @ 10, ER: 5.00, BBI: 2-17

Axar was arguably the best India bowler in the series, ending with an economy rate of 5.00 – the best among all players from the team. He got two wickets in both games he played, with his showings helping him achieve his career-best ICC ranking ahead of the final match.

Ravi Bishnoi: 3/10

3 matches, 2 wickets @ 55.00, ER: 10.31, BBI: 2-39

Bishnoi was expensive throughout, conceding runs at a rate of 11.70, 9.80 and 9.50 in the three games. He picked up two scalps in Indore, including that of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who got off to a start. He gets extra points for his bowling in the second Super Over, getting two wickets in three balls to hand India the win.
