England are in tatters after losing three of their four games thus far and will be hopeful of a revival when they face Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on Thursday. The Jos Buttler-led side have lost their last two games, to Afghanistan and South Africa, the latter by a huge margin of 229 runs.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have one win to show as well. They lost their first three games on the trot but bounced back with a comfortable win against the Netherlands in Lucknow last week.

England are placed ninth on the points table with the second-worst net run rate (-1.248) among all sides, ahead of only Bangladesh. Sri Lanka are placed a spot higher with a net run rate of -1.048.

Both teams have been marred with injuries in the World Cup. Reece Topley has been ruled out after fracturing his finger, with Brydon Carse replacing him.

Angelo Mathews was initially picked as a travel reserve for Sri Lanka and has now been drafted into the side after the injury to Matheesha Pathirana.
