Watch: Rohit Sharma lofted Mark Wood for a six with a flick off his hips in the India-England World Cup 2023 match on October 29.
India started off poorly after being asked to bat against England. Shubman Gill (9), Virat Kohli (0), and Shreyas Iyer (4) fell cheaply, and they were reduced to 40-3 in 11.5 overs. The batters fell while trying to up the ante on a placid Lucknow wicket. Rohit, aggressive right from the word go, kept playing his strokes. In a period of consolidation, he stitched a 91-run partnership with KL Rahul before the latter was dismissed for a 58-ball 39.
In the 24th over, Wood bowled a wayward delivery on the fourth ball, angling the ball down the leg side. Rohit, then on 52, pounced on the opportunity and swivelled to flick the ball off his hips. He closed his bat in the process, and the ball soared over fine-leg for six.
