Pakistan vs the Netherlands, World Cup 2023 Match 2: Team news

Pakistan have beaten Netherlands on all six occasions they have met, three of them in the bilateral series in the Netherlands last year. The other three were in the 1996 and 2003 World Cups and the 2002 Champions Trophy.

Pakistan will almost certainly bring in Hasan Ali for Naseem Shah, who will miss the World Cup. Fakhar Zaman’s form remains a concern, but Pakistan are likely to back him for the Netherlands match. If it still does not work out, Abdullah Shafique is ready.

Shadab Khan, too, will have a point to prove. With Mohammad Nawaz looking assured of a spot, Shadab may be pushed by Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Wasim. Saud may find another slot at some point, replacing Salman Agha.

At the Qualifiers, the Netherlands beat, among other sides, Zimbabwe and the West Indies to finish runners-up, and qualified for the World Cup. Last year, they knocked South Africa out of the semi-final race at the T20 World Cup.

However, the biggest stage of ODI cricket will be another story altogether. The only Associate Nation at this edition will have their job cut out.

Pakistan vs the Netherlands predicted XIs
