Watch: Hardik Pandya breaks 121-run Afghanistan stand with cunning off-cutter, lets out aggressive roar

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Hardik Pandya dismissed Azmatullah Omarzai with a slow off-cutter and let out a huge roar following the dismissal during the India-Afghanistan clash in the 2023 World Cup on Wednesday (October 11).

Pandya was hit for three successive boundaries by the Afghan batters, with skipper Hashmatllah Shahidi hitting a four and a six on the last two balls of the previous over. The India all-rounder started his next over with another four, hit by Omarzai, but he had the last laugh in the end as he got his second wicket of the game soon after.

A ball after hitting Pandya for a four, Omarzai looked to play another big shot, but he fell to the off-cutter, playing down the wrong line as he expected it would angle in. The ball kept straight, beat the batter’s outside edge and went on to dismantle his off-stump, as Pandya let out a huge roar in joy, as he broke the 121-run stand.
