Australia vs South Africa, World Cup 2023 Match 10: Team news

The sides have pitted against each other in six World Cup matches, with Australia winning three games and South Africa two. The 1999 semi-final was tied. A horrible mixup between Lance Klusener, who was batting well on 31 from 16 balls, and Allan Donald resulted in a run out, ending South Africa’s chase, and Australia men entered the final because of their superior position on the Super Six table.

Australia’s vulnerability against quality spin was visible against India. The Lucknow stadium is traditionally low, slow and spin-friendly. Barring Adam Zampa, they lack a second frontline tweaker, which may hurt them if the pitch behaves according to its reputation.

Against India, the pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Cummins played an ODI together for the first time since November 2020, and showed how dangerous they could be after reducing the opponents to 2-3. Before that, David Warner became the quickest to 1,000 World Cup runs, and is in fine form lately, registering three fifties in the last four ODIs.

Meanwhile, South Africa should be confident after scoring 428-5 against Sri Lanka, the highest-ever World Cup total. Rassie van der Dussen’s form was the only concern in their in-form batting order, but he chipped in with 108 alongside the other two century-makers, Quinton de Kock (100) and Aiden Markram (106).

At Lucknow, they may bring innan extra spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi.
