The Test leg of the West Indies tour of Australia ended 1-1. The hosts prevailed in the first game before the West Indies rode on an awe-inspiring bowling performance from Shamar Joseph to win their first Test on Australian soil since 1996/97. The focus now shifts to the ODIs.
The first clash of the three-match series will be played on February 2 in Melbourne, followed by the second ODI on February 4 in Sydney, and the third ODI on February 6 in Canberra.
Steve Smith will lead Australia as captain Pat Cummins has been rested among several other regulars. Among the newcomers, uncapped fast-bowler Xavier Bartlett, sensational young batter Jake Fraser-McGurk and all-rounder Will Sutherland, who replaced an injured Nathan Ellis, have earned their maiden call-ups.

For the West Indies, Shai Hope will lead a 15-member squad. Justin Greaves and Kavem Hodge, both part of the Test series, will return to the ODI set-up alongside wrist-spinner Hayden Walsh Junior. Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford are unavailable for selection, while Shimron Hetmyer and Yannic Cariah have been omitted.
Since winning their sixth World Cup in late 2023, Australia haven’t played an ODI, while the visitors are coming on the back of a morale-boosting 2-1 series win against England at home despite missing out on a spot in the tournament.
