Watch: Manpreet Gony hits Sri Lankan batsman with throw
The Road Safety World Series 2021 final between India and Sri Lanka was a closely fought affair and in the heat of the battle, India’s fast bowler Manpreet Gony threw the ball back at the Chinthaka Jayasinghe and hit him flush on the arms.
Chasing 182 for a win, Sri Lanka Legends batsmen Jayasinghe and Kaushalya Weeraratne were building a solid platform. In the 17th over of the innings, Jayasinghe hit a free hit delivery straight back to the bowler, Gony.
The bowler picked up the ball quickly and fired a throw waywardly right at the batsman who had moved away from the stumps. It hit Jayasinghe on the left hand and the batsman needed a quick check from the physio. Gony apologised immediately as a few Indian players gathered around the batsman.
