IND vs BAN, Asia Cup 2023: Team news

India, who have already sealed their spot in the 2023 Asia Cup final, will look to experiment with their team combination. This is a valuable opportunity for their World Cup-bound players who haven’t featured regularly in the XI so far.

With both the departments (batting and bowling) on song, Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami are likely to get a game. Shreyas Iyer who has missed the last two matches due to a back spasm continues to miss out. Jasprit Bumrah could make way for Prasidh Krishna, who’s not in India’s World Cup squad, for his workload management. Bumrah has had a fruitful run in India’s continental event so far. His fiery 12 overs in the last two games are enough to convince the cricketing world about his form, especially after a long injury layoff.

India have also rested Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj, with Tilak Varma making his debut. Shardul Thakur comes in.

Meanwhile, dejected Bangladesh, who are already out of this year’s event after their Super Four defeats against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will look to salvage some pride. Barring their group-stage game versus Afghanistan, the ‘Tigers’ batting has struggled largely. The ouster of in-form opener Najmul Hossain Shanto due to a hamstring injury hasn’t helped their cause either. Premium batter Litton Das has failed to leave a mark as well with scores of 16 and 15 from his two outings. Das scored 121(117) in the final of the 2018 Asia Cup against India and will look to leave the tournament on a high.

IND vs BAN, Asia Cup 2023: Playing XIs

India: Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul(w), Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Prasidh Krishna

Bangladesh: Litton Das(w), Tanzid Hasan, Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan(c), Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman

Match prediction – Today’s Asia Cup live match

India are clear favourites despite their possible changes. Teams have failed to read left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav. He rattled both Pakistan and Sri Lanka in India’s Super Four fixtures with figures of 5-25 and 4-43, respectively.

Bangladesh might give some spirited individual performances, but they stand no chance in front of the well-oiled machine that the ‘Men in Blue’ are looking like before the 2023 ODI World Cup.
