The Legends Cricket Trophy, a 90-ball tournament, will begin on March 8 in Sri Lanka and here’s where you can watch the 2024 edition.

Several retired legends will roll back the clock as they get together to participate in the Legends Cricket Trophy. Seven teams will participate in the edition – Dubai Giants, Delhi Devils, Rajasthan Kings, Colombo Lions, Kandy Samp Army, and NY Strikers. The competition will begin with Dubai taking on New York on Friday (March 8).

Legends Cricket Trophy: Who is participating?

Players such as Shaun Marsh, Harbhajan Singh, Vernon Philander, Yuvraj Singh, Imran Tahir, Suresh Raina, Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanvir, Aaron Finch, Chris Gayle, Ross Taylor and Tillakaratne Dilshan will take the field for the 11-day event.

All games will be played at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy. Each side will play the other side once, making it a total of six league games. The top two sides will play the final on March 19.

An opening ceremony will precede the start of the first game, headlined by the performance of several Bollywood stars such as Badshah, Jacqueline Fernandes, Emraan Hashmi and Sanjay Dutt.

How does the 90-ball format work?

The 90-ball game will see teams use five bowlers, who can bowl three overs each. One bowler can send down a fourth over, but the fielding captain will have to notify the umpire and the rival team of their choice of bowler by the 60th ball.

Each over, consisting of six balls, will need to be completed within four minutes and 30 seconds. There will be a 30-second grace period allowed.

There will be two powerplays for each innings, with the bowling powerplay from balls 1 to 24. The batting powerplay can be used any time after the 60th ball.

There will also be a strategic timeout, which can be taken between the 42nd and 48th balls of the innings.
