IPL 2024: Latest news and updates
Delhi Capitals win another high scoring thriller
In another massive scoring match in the 2024 IPL, Delhi Capitals blasted their way to 257-4 in their innings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium yesterday (April 27). Jake Fraser-McGurk was given the Player of the Match award for his explosive 84 off 27 balls opening the innings, his runs coming at a strike rate of 311.11. Shai Hope contributed with a 17-ball 41 and Tristan Stubbs finished the innings with an unbeaten 48 off 25 balls. In reply, Mumbai Indians came close to chasing down the score. Tilak Varma smashed 63 off 32 balls before he was run out and Hardik Pandya scored 46 off 24 balls. However, three wickets apiece from Mukesh Kumar and impact player Rasikh Salam ensured Mumbai fell short of their target by ten runs.

KL Rahul’s good form continues
Rahul was once again in the runs against Rajasthan, scoring 76 off 48 balls at the top of the order. Rahul is now up to third in the Orange cap rankings, having scored 378 runs at a strike rate of 144.27 this season. While his runs return is welcome for LSG, his strike rate is the lowest of anyone with more than 350 runs in this year’s tournament so far.
Sanju Samson stars for Rajasthan Royals
Chasing 196-5, Rajasthan found themselves in trouble when both Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed after making starts. At 60-2, Samson came in to steady a potential collapse, with Riyan Parag also falling not long after Samson came to the crease. However, from there Samson played a blinding innings, finishing on 71 not out off 33 balls, combining with Dhruv Jurel, who scored a half-century, to take the side over the line. The innings could boost his potential to claim the up-for-grabs wicketkeeper-batter spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad, which is set to be announced soon.
