Watch: Mohammad Amir Rips Out Islamabad United Opener With Well-Directed Bouncer, Celebrates With Finger On Lips

Watch: Mohammad Amir celebrated dismissing Hassan Nawaz in the PSL with a pointed gesture after the opener had driven him for four.

In the early stages of Islamabad United’s chase of 174 in their Pakistan Super League clash with Karachi Kings, Amir was under pressure after Nawaz had hit him through the covers to the boundary. After Amir bowled the ball full and across the right-hander, Nawaz drilled the ball between the two fielders in the ring to pick up his first boundary.

Amir responded in definitive style, however, sending down a well-directed bouncer which Nawaz looked to pull but got a top edge on, the ball sailing straight up in the air. With three fielders including Amir converging on the ball, Matthew Wade claimed the ball with the keeper’s gloves on and took a simple catch to complete the dismissal.

As Nawaz walked off with his head bowed, Amir put his fingers to his lips, his other arm straight up signalling the wicket, as his teammates rushed in to congratulate him.

Amir closed out the over with three dot balls to new batter Rassie van der Dussen as Karachi made inroads into the Islamabad batting lineup early.

Their success in the powerplay wasn’t to continue, however, and a 23-ball half-century by Colin Munro saw Islamabad to victory. After Munro was run-out for 58, contributions from the lower order closed out the run chase with ten balls to spare. Tom Curran hit the winning runs with a six over long-on. Amir finished with figures of 2-30 from his four overs.
