Watch: Shaheen Shah Afridi demonstrated his prowess bowling yorkers once again in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) today (March 7, 2023), bowling Peshawar Zalmi’s Haseebullah in the death overs.
Peshawar Zalmi put up a strong total of 207 against Lahore Qalandars, but it looked at one stage as if it would be more, with a century partnership between Saif Ayub and Babar Azam laying a strong platform.
With 10 balls to go, Peshawar Zalmi were 199-5 and eyeing up a score nearing 220. Instead, Shaheen kickstarted a slide of five wickets in seven legal deliveries as Lahore Qalandars hit back.
Haseebullah was the first to go, bowled leg-stump as he looked to make room to hit through the off-side. “Got a little too cocky here, Haseebullah,” said Danny Morrison of the Shaheen wicket on commentary, “and he’s been knocked over by the kingpin of yorkers.”
Shaheen struck twice more in his next three balls, with Azmatullah Omarzai caught in the deep and Wahab Riaz inside-edging behind, to finish with figures of 4-31. Zaman Khan then took the last two wickets to fall.
