Watch: ‘I’d call it frustration’ – Mohammad Amir fires angry return throw past Babar Azam during PSL clash

by Wisden Staff 3 minute read

Watch: A clip of Mohammad Amir’s frustrated reaction while bowling to Babar Azam has been shared widely on social media, with the duo’s battle in the PSL a keenly observed one.

In the build-up to the game, Amir caused a stir by saying: “My job is to take wickets and win matches for my team, so for me, facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 will be the same.”

Babar won the battle between the two on the day, cover-driving gloriously second ball and making a century to set up victory for Peshawar Zalmi on his debut for the side, playing against Karachi Kings, his old team.

Peshawar Zalmi noted the remark from Amir in their social media coverage, using the hashtag ‘tailender’, and posted a scorecard with Babar slotted at No.10.

Any interaction between the two was magnified, with Amir throwing the ball in a frustrated manner past Babar to the wicketkeeper after a routine forward defensive viewed over 100,000 times. “I’d call it frustration,” noted the on-air commentator.
