Ahead of the auction, the list of IPL 2023 releases and retentions for each team will be announced on November 15, 2022 – here are live updates on all the ins and outs of each franchise, including releases, retentions and trades.

The Indian Premier League player 2023 auction will be held in Kochi on December 23. Ahead of the event, which will be a mini-auction compared to the two-day programme earlier this year. The transfer window has remained open in the meantime, allowing franchises to exchange players ahead of the auction.

The deadline will end on November 15 – 5pm IST.


IPL auction 2023: Player retention and releases list – live updates

CSK released players: Dwayne Bravo, Robin Uthappa, Adam Milne, C Hari Nishaanth, Chris Jordan, Bhagath Varma, KM Asif, N Jagadeesan

DC released players: Shardul Thakur, Tim Seifert, Ashwin Hebbar, Srikar Bharat, Mandeep Singh

MI released players: Kieron Pollard, Tymal Mills, Anmolpreet Singh, Aryan Juyal, Basil Thampi, Daniel Sams, Fabian Allen, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, Murugan Ashwin, Rahul Buddhi, Riley Meredith, Sanjay Yadav

KKR released players: Pat Cummins, Sam Billings, Shivam Mavi, Chamika Karunaratne, Aaron Finch, Alex Hales, Abhijeet Tomar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Sharma, Baba Indrajith, Pratham Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Rasikh Salam, Sheldon Jackson, Mohammad Nabi, Aman Khan

Chennai Super Kings have released Dwayne Bravo.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have released Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd.

Punjab Kings have released Mayank Agarwal ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

KKR have confirmed that the trio of Pat Cummins, Alex Hales and Sam Billings have been released. All three won’t be participating in the upcoming auction.

Just in: Kieron Pollard has retired from IPL. He won’t be parting ways with Mumbai Indians though – he will take up the role of batting coach, and will play in MI Emirates.

Plenty of chatter around the big names: the likes of Kieron Pollard, Kane Williamson, and Mayank Agarwal, who have played IPL for years, might find not be first-choice retentions, given how their form has declined of late.

Teams will be releasing players to make space in their budget, which will be given an additional INR 5 crore increment to make purchases in the auction.

Here are the key updates ahead of the IPL 2023 auction retentions list:

# There won’t be any right to match card at the auction

# Sam Billings, who was part of KKR, has withdrawn from IPL 2023.

# Shardul Thakur has been traded to Kolkata Knight Riders from Delhi Capitals. KKR’s Aman Khan, meanwhile, has moved to Delhi Capitals.

# Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Lockie Ferguson have moved to Kolkata Knight Riders from Gujarat Titans.

# Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Jason Behrendorff has been traded to Mumbai Indians.

# Pat Cummins has withdrawn from the IPL 2023 auction, citing a heavy international workload.
