IPL 2022: The youngest and oldest players in the Indian Premier League auction list

The IPL 2022 auction is all set to take place on February 12 and 13 –  a look at the youngest and oldest players registered in the Indian Premier League mega auction this year.

The auction will act as a prelude to the 15th edition of the tournament. A number of international and domestic players (590 in total) have registered themselves for the IPL auction. This includes players from various countries and age-groups, both capped and uncapped.

Youngest

Some fine young players including some top performers from the U19 World Cup including Dewald Brevis, and Yash Dhull are a part of the auction list.

Noor Ahmad (17 years 40 days)

Afghanistan, uncapped

The Afghanistan left arm wrist-spinner is the youngest player in the IPL auction. Despite being only in his teens, he is no stranger to T20 action having been a part of the Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Galle Gladiators and Melbourne Renegades setup.

Khrievitso Kense (17 years 343 days)

India, uncapped

Born on March 6, 2004, the Nagaland leg spinner is the youngest Indian on the auction list. He impressed in the last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and has 14 wickets at a bowling average of 12.35 in his career so far.

Aaqib Khan (18 years 49 days)

India, uncapped

The Uttar Pradesh youngster is the second-youngest Indian player on the auction list. He has limited experience but has played in all formats of the game at the domestic level.

Sameer Rizvi (18 years 68 days)

India, uncapped

Rizvi also plays for Uttar Pradesh and was born on December 6, 2003. He’s played for the India U19 B team.

Izharulhuq Naveed (18 years 94 days)

Afghanistan, uncapped

Naveed is a leg-spinner who was a part of the 2022 U19 World Cup campaign for Afghanistan and has also played List A cricket.

Oldest

A number of old guns of the game are also a part of the auction list. These include the likes of Murali Vijay, Faf du Plessis and Wriddhiman Saha.

Imran Tahir (42 years 322 days)

South Africa, capped

The South Africa leg-spinner is the oldest player in the auction, and the only player born in 1970s to have made it to the auction list.

Fidel Edwards (40 years 6 days)

West Indies, capped

The fast bowler from West Indies made his international debut in 2003, and is still raring to go. He will be 40 by the time the auction takes place.

Amit Mishra (39 years 80 days)

India, capped

India’s veteran leg-spinner picked a four-wicket haul just the last IPL and would be hoping to get picked with a base price of Rs. 1.5 crores.

Sreesanth (39 years 6 days)

India, capped

The controversial India quick is a surprise name making a comeback to the IPL. He has played for Punjab Kings, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and Rajasthan Royals in the past, but hasn’t featured in the tournament since 2013.

Dwayne Bravo (38 years 128 days)

West Indies, capped

The West Indies legend has a base price of INR 2 crore, and can be a handy all-round option for a number of sides. He has been a vital force in the Chennai Super Kings line-up for years.
