Fastest balls in IPL 2022: Match-wise list of fastest deliveries recorded on the speed gun

IPL 2022 fastest deliveries
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

IPL 2022 has seen several tearaway quicks ply their trade, with the likes of Umran Malik, Lockie Ferguson, and Dushmantha Chameera testing out the speed gun consistently with their rapid deliveries – here’s the match-by-match list of fastest balls in the tournament so far.

They have enjoyed success too, indicating that there is nothing quite like raw pace – even in the shortest format. Lockie Ferguson, who was acquired by the Gujarat Titans at the auction, has been bowling with gusto throughout the tournament. The Kiwi has set the speed gun on fire, having clocked a speed of 153.9 kph against the Chennai Super Kings.

Umran Malik, who was one of the few uncapped Indians to be retained, has been the fastest bowler of the tournament. He hit 154 kph twice, in his side’s encounter against CSK on May 1. Dushmantha Chameera, too, has been at his rapid best this season and has been a genuine wicket-taking option for the Lucknow Super Giants. In his most recent encounter, he got the better of Virat Kohli for a golden duck.
