Watch: Umran Malik produced a sizzling yorker to castle Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer – a dismissal that evoked a jubilant reaction from Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach Dale Steyn.

The dismissal occurred on the final ball of the 10th over after the fast bowler had set Iyer up with a few back-of-a-length deliveries. Umran, who had hit speeds in excess of 145 during that over, flummoxed Iyer by bowling a pin-point yorker. The KKR skipper shimmied around his crease and tried to dig it out but was beaten for pace as the ball clattered into the stumps.

While Umran was understandably upbeat, Steyn, who recently announced on social media that Umran was his inspiration, was even more animated in the dug-out. In the recent past, the former South African pacer has been vocal in asking Umran to not compromise on his pace. And, it seems Steyn’s protégé is adhering to his mentor’s advice.

Apart from Iyer, Umran also accounted for Sheldon Jackson. The fast bowler finished with figures of 4-0-27-2 wickets and played a crucial role as SRH restricted KKR to 175-8.
