Watch: Azam Khan hit Mohammed Amir for a 6, 4 and 6 in consecutive deliveries during Qualifier 2 to continue his big-hitting form in the 2023 Caribbean Premier League.

Azam, representing Guyana Amazon Warriors, has a strike rate of 155.55 in the ongoing CPL, the second-best among the top 10 run-scorers in this year’s competition. He continued his aggressive approach in the knockout game against Jamaica Tallawahs, ending with a 27-ball 54 in a massive win for the side.

The highlight was his onslaught against Amir, who currently leads the wicket-taking charts in this CPL. During the last three balls of the penultimate over, Azam first hit a six over deep mid-wicket before sending the next delivery, a yorker, past the keeper with an inside edge. He ended on a high, slicing the last ball over deep point for a maximum, as Amir conceded 17 runs in the over.

Azam was eventually dismissed in the last over by Shamar Springer, with his innings propelling Guyana to 182.

Jamaica, in turn, were bowled out for 101 as Guyana booked a final spot, where they will take on Trinbago Knight Riders on Sunday.
