Batting first, Mumbai Indians put up a massive score of 234 on the board. Delhi Capitals’ response was led by Mumbai-based opener Prithvi Shaw.

Shaw started off proceedings with a second-ball six off Gerald Coetzee before ambling to 27 off 22 balls at the six-over mark. It was after the powerplay restrictions were lifted that Shaw came into his own. He reached his fifty off 31 balls and was on 65 off 38 at the end of 11 overs, with DC’s score reading 107-1.

Bumrah was called back for his second over. After picking a single off the second ball, Shaw was on strike again for the fifth and was undone by a trademark, quick, toe-crushing yorker by Bumrah, that uprooted his leg stump.

The over fetched only four runs. Tristan Stubbs, who came in to replace Shaw, kept the fight going for DC even as wickets fell at the other end. But he couldn’t do it all himself, and Mumbai Indians eased to victory.
