Ashton Turner has an abysmal record in the IPL: he had scored only eight runs in five innings before the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Here, he registered his highest score in the league when he crossed five at the Ekana stadium.
Walking in to bat at No.7 in the run chase of 236, Turner hit two sixes during his nine-ball stay at the crease before being out in bizarre circumstances.
On the last ball of the 14th over, bowled by Varun Chakravarthy, Turner tried to flat-bat the back-of-length delivery but ended up getting an inside edge to his boot. The ball ricocheted off Turner’s shoe to Chakravarthy, who managed to hold onto a low catch.
The decision went up to the TV umpire to determine whether it was a bump ball but it was deemed a legal catch as Turner was dismissed for another low score.
KKR ended up winning the clash convincingly by 98 runs and have gone to the top of the points table with 16 points from 11 games.
