IPL: How much did the winners earn it the first season?

The winning side in the first IPL (Rajasthan Royals) in 2008, received INR 4.8 crore, with the runners-up (Chennai Super Kings) earned INR 2.4 crore. Over the years, the prize money has increased by leaps and bounds, with the winners CSK earning INR 20 crore in IPL 2023.

IPL: How much will the winners earn in 2024?

While there’s been no official statement as of now, reports suggest that the prize money for this year’s IPL is going to be the same as last year when a total of INR 46.5 crore was set aside for the competition.

In fact, BCCI has not revised the prize money over the last few years, with the winners gaining INR 20 crore since 2016. Between 2016 and 2019, the runners-up were rewarded INR 11 crore, which was revised to INR 13 crore from 2021.

In 2020, however, the winning team (Mumbai Indians) got INR 10 crore as a cost-cutting measure due to the Covid -pandemic that year.

IPL 2024 individual awards’ prize money

The winners of the Orange Cap (most runs scored) and the Purple Cap (most wickets taken) are expected get INR 15 lakh each as has been the norm in the last few years. The Emerging Player of the tournament and the Most Valuable Player award winners are expected to get INR 20 lakh and INR 12 lakh respectively.

There are several other individual awards that have been given at the end of each game in IPL 2024, including the Player of the Match, the RuPay On-The-Go 4s of the Match, the Punch.ev Electric Striker of the Match, the Green Dot balls of the Match, the AngelOne Super 6 of the Match, and the My11Circle Ultimate Fantasy Player of the Match.
