Kolkata Knight Riders have played only once since May 11, but when they annihilated Sunrisers Hyderabad during that outing, in Qualifier 1. After Mitchell Starc whisked out the top order, SRH folded for 159, and KKR got there with 38 balls to spare. In the league stage, too, KKR had beaten SRH – though that was by four runs.
KKR are likely to stick to the same XI from Qualifier 1 (though Nitish Rana may play if they bat first). Shahbaz Ahmed’s exceptional show in Qualifier 2, on the other hand, may prompt SRH to include him in the first XI, though that may depend on the conditions.
If the Chepauk pitch is anything like the one used for Qualifier 2, expect spin to play a significant role.
