New Zealand, the winners of the inaugural World Test Championship, will face England in a three-match Test series beginning on June 2 — here’s the complete New Zealand squad, along with team news and injury replacement updates for the ENG v NZ 2022 series.
Kane Williamson returns to the Test team for the first time since November 2021 and will lead New Zealand in the three-match series that will begin this week. The skipper has been plagued by a lingering elbow injury, which saw Tom Latham lead the side in his absence during the home summer.
The Kiwis have selected Cam Fletcher, who averaged just over 40 in the 2021/22 Plunket Shield. He has been picked as the second wicketkeeper in the 15-member side, with Tom Blundell as the first-choice gloveman.
Hamish Rutherford, who scored a fine hundred on his Test debut against England in 2013, along with Jacob Duffy, who has represented New Zealand in four T20Is, both failed to make the final 15. Rachin Ravindra and Blair Tickner were also cut from the initial 20-man group.
Injury updates (as of Monday, May 30): Henry Nicholls is a doubt for the first Test after picking up a calf injury.
Trent Boult is likely to miss the first Test at Lord’s, having played the 2022 Indian Premier League final on May 29.
