The latest ICC men’s Test rankings, as updated on June 14, 2023, features Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and Travis Head in the first three spots.

Despite making 26 and 41 in the World Test Championship 2021-23 final against India, Marnus Labuschagne held on to the top spot. With 903 points, he is the only one above the 900-mark.

Steve Smith’s 121 and 34 helped him reach 885, while Travis Head’s 163 and 18 took him to 884. Both men leapfrogged Kane Williamson (883), who slipped from second to fourth place.

This is the first instance of three batters from the same team occupying the top three places in the ICC Test ranking in over 38 years, since Gordon Greenidge (810), Clive Lloyd (787), and Larry Gomes (773) of the West Indies in December 1984.

At ninth place is another Australia’s Usman Khawaja, whose 0 and 13 saw him drop two places, while Alex Carey’s 48 and unbeaten 66 helped him rise from 47th to 36th.

The highest-ranked India player, Rishabh Pant, is in 10th place with 758 points. With 729 and 700, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli held on to their 12th and 13th ranks respectively.

Alex Carey’s exploits (48 and 66*) were also rewarded with a jump of 11 spots, moving to 36th with 592 ranking points. Rohit Sharma (729) and Virat Kohli (700) sit in 12th and 13th respectively after the match.

On the bowling side, the most newsworthy move came from Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who moved up two places in a tie for sixth with England quick Ollie Robinson (777).

Despite missing the final, R Ashwin (860) continued to top the bowling charts, while Pat Cummins (829) remained in third place. Nathan Lyon (1-19 and 4-41) rose to 777. He is now joint sixth, along with Ollie Robinson.

Ravindra Jadeja (765) remained at ninth place, Mitchell Starc (700) in 14th, and Mohammed Shami (655) in 20th. However, Scott Boland and Mohammed Siraj, last week’s 42nd and 41st, are now 36th and 40th.

Jadeja (434) and Ashwin (352) are still the top two all-rounders in the world, while Axar Patel (310) and Starc (244) are fourth and eighth, in that order. Cam Green (15th) and Lyon (16th) rose one slot each.

There has been no significant change in the rankings in men’s or women’s ODIs or T20Is in the latest ICC rankings.
