The ICC has revealed the schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup to be held across October and November. Here’s all you need to know about the marquee IND vs PAK clash at the World Cup, including the match date, timings, venue, and more.

After much deliberation, the schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup is finally out. The ICC released the updated fixtures list today (August 9). The first match will be played between Australia and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5, while the final is scheduled at the same venue on November 19.

The World Cup will be played across 10 venues in India and will feature a total of 10 teams, eight of which gained direct entry on the basis of their ODI Super League rankings, and two of which qualified through the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe earlier this year.

The delay in releasing the schedule was partly due to the ongoing tensions between the BCCI and the PCB. The PCB had even threatened to pull out of the World Cup at one point.

However, the updated schedule is out now, and the marquee India-Pakistan clash has an updated date and place.

IND vs PAK at the ODI World Cup: Match date, timings, and venue

The India vs Pakistan game has been rescheduled to October 14, a Saturday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The original schedule had the game to be played on October 15, but the local police’s inability to provide adequate security on the day due to the start of Navratri, a Hindu festival, meant that the game has been preponed by a day.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had earlier expressed apprehensions about playing in Ahmedabad. They had also sought to swap the venues of two of their games: against Australia and Afghanistan. However, the ICC has gone ahead with the plans in the original draft of the schedule.

The India-Pakistan game will be the third game for both teams at the World Cup.

The match will begin at 2 pm local time.

This will be the first time that Pakistan will be travelling to India to play international cricket since the 2016 T20 World Cup. India and Pakistan met at Kolkata in that event.
