WI vs IND 2023, second T20I: News and updates

West Indies won the first match of the series in Tarouba, Trinidad by four runs, and will look to continue the momentum they have gathered. While pleased with the returns of Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell in the middle order, they will want Shimron Hetmyer to come good. He has had a torrid time so far, with a highest score of 11 from four outings (three ODIs and one T20I).

On the bowling front, Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein led the way in the first T20I, with figures of 2-19 and 1-17 from their respective four overs.

India handed T20I caps to Tilak Varma and Mukesh Kumar in the first match. Tilak turned out to be their highest scorer, with 39 off 22 balls, but the lack of batting depth meant India could not get over the line despite needing just ten runs off the final over.

To counter that, they might drop a bowler and bring in Yashasvi Jaiswal, who also bowls some leg-spin.

WI vs IND 2023, second T20I: Dream11 fantasy tips

# Among the 11 completed T20 games played at the Providence Stadium since 2022 (ten CPL games and a T20I), seven have been won by the team batting first. The average first-innings score has been 171, showing that the pitch has generally been productive for batting, but has slowed down as games have progressed.

# Among the 10 completed CPL games here last year, spinners averaged 21.47 with the ball while seamers averaged 21.73, implying that sporting wickets were on offer. The economy rates, however, differed quite a lot: while spinners went at 7.06, seamers conceded 8.68.

# India may bring in Yashasvi Jaiswal for one of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav to boost their batting. Jaiswal the highest scorer in the powerplay in IPL 2023, and his runs came at a strike rate of 175, the highest for anyone with 200 runs in the first six overs.

# Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, two wicketkeeper-batters with excellent ODI and domestic T20 records, have somehow failed to turn up in T20Is so far. Samson averages 19.6 and strikes at 132, while Kishan averages 24.4 and strikes at 122 in T20Is.

# Arshdeep Singh has taken 14 wickets in his last 7 T20Is, including 2-31 in the last game. He bowls in the powerplay as well as at the death, two phases where wicket-taking opportunities are the highest for a fast bowler.

# Pooran scored 41 off 34 balls in the previous game immediately after a scintillating hundred in the MLC 2023 final. He has an excellent record at the Providence Stadium, averaging 46.25 and striking at 174. He should be a certain starter in your fantasy team for this game.

# Akeal has taken just two wickets from six T20 games at this venue in his T20 career at an average of 78.

# Kyle Mayers has struggled against India in T20Is. Against others, his average and strike rate are 21.73 and 142 respectively. Against India, they drop down to 19.6 and 119. Even in the first game of this series, he struggled to one off seven balls before he was dismissed by Chahal.
