The Virat Kohli-led side will seek to open its account in the competition. The team’s previous encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan turned out to be a one-sided drubbing as the Men in Green defeated India by 10 wickets. The openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, struggled for runs while Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant impressed.

The bowling proved flat, with the bowlers failing to break the opening partnership of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. In these circumstances, India could look to make some changes to their playing XI.

India made only one change to their preliminary T20 World Cup squad before settling for their final 15, with Shardul Thakur coming in place of Axar Patel. There were many questions over the combinations India would go with before the Pakistan encounter, and they continue to linger.

While some would believe that India should go with the same side, others may prefer the entry of Shardul Thakur or Ravichandran Ashwin into the side. There are questions over the top-order combination, the fitness of Hardik Pandya, and the bowling combination India decides to go with – three spinners and two fast bowlers, or two spinners and three fast bowlers. Anything is possible in this all-important T20I clash between two very good sides.
