After losing three T20Is and two ODIs, South Africa were put into bat by Australia after losing the toss. They got off to a solid start as Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma put on 146 in 22.5 overs.
De Kock was out for 82 off 77 balls, and Bavuma followed soon after. Aiden Markram, batting at No.4, scored his second ODI ton, perfectly pacing his innings and remaining unbeaten at 102 off just 74 balls. Late blows by Marco Jansen helped South Africa push beyond 330 and finish at 338-6 from their 50 overs.
Nearly every Australian bowler went for runs, but Travis Head bowled his quota of 10 overs for just 39 and picked two wickets to go with it.

The Australian opening pair of David Warner and Head came out all guns blazing. They raced off to 79 inside eight overs when Head was caught at mid on off Sisanda Magala.
Mitchell Marsh, Marnus Labuschagne, Alex Carey, and Marcus Stoinis, all reached double figures but none of them was able to cross 30 as the Australian chase fizzled out quickly. Gerald Coetzee got rid of the lower order with his pace, taking 4-50 off 6.3 overs.
The spin duo of Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj chipped in as well, taking two wickets each as Australia were bowled out for 227 in just 34.3 overs, handing South Africa a 111-run victory and keeping the series alive.
