Watch: David Warner and Shaheen Afridi concluded day three of the Lahore Test with a moment of playful banter, indulging in a smily stare-down.
It was a day when Australia made a dramatic comeback, seizing initiative of the Test with a flurry of wickets in the evening session to dismantle Pakistan’s batting line-up. From 248-3, Pakistan succumbed to 268 all out, with Pat Cummins prising out five scalps, including a wonder grab off his own bowling. Cummins found plenty of support in Mitchell Starc, who took four wickets, giving Australia’s openers a handy 123-run lead to capitalise on.
Warner and Usman Khawaja successfully negotiated the new ball for three overs, keeping Afridi and Naseem Shah at bay. Off the final ball of the day, an Afridi lifter was dabbed down by Warner, soon after which the two decided to conclude play in amusing fashion.
Warner yelled “no run” at Afridi, a post-ball ritual made famous by his teammate Marnus Labuschagne; Afridi ran up to Warner for a stare-down, with both of them looking at each other for a few seconds. Both of them broke into smiles, though, showing that there was no malice from either side.
